What is LLMS.txt and Why It Matters for Your Florist Website

We know this might sound a bit technical, but don’t worry — we’ll keep it as simple and stress-free as possible.

If you've been hearing about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) or the rise of AI tools like ChatGPT, you’ve probably also started to realise that how people find your website is changing. It’s no longer just about Google anymore. AI engines are becoming just as important — and they read websites differently.

To help with this shift, we’ve introduced something new for Flower Store In a Box customers: the LLMS.txt file.

So... What Is LLMS.txt?

Think of LLMS.txt like a curated map of your website that’s made just for AI tools like ChatGPT.

It’s similar to a sitemap (a behind-the-scenes file that helps search engines understand your website), but this one is laser-focused on showing only the best and most relevant pages on your website.

Basically:

  • Traditional search engines like Google want to index everything.
  • AI engines like ChatGPT just want your highlights.

LLMS.txt helps AI tools quickly understand what your site is about, what pages are worth paying attention to, and what to skip.

Why Does This Matter?

Here’s why LLMS.txt is important for you:

  • It tells AI tools which pages on your website are important.
  • It helps AI understand your products, services, and service areas better.
  • It gives your site a better chance of being recommended or referenced in AI-generated answers.

This is part of a bigger shift towards AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) — and LLMS.txt is a key part of that strategy.

How Do I Activate This?

It’s easy to get started, and you only need to do it once. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Dashboard

Go to: Marketing & SEO → SEO Tools → LLMS.txt

  2. Review the Suggested Pages

    • You’ll see a draft list of pages from your site.
    • Don’t publish everything. LLMS should highlight only your most important pages.
    • Keep pages like your homepage, delivery page, key category pages, and a handful of best‑selling products.
    • Remove generic or low‑value pages (privacy policy, login, “sold out” items).
  3. Add Missing Names or Descriptions

    • Check that each page has a clear title and a short, helpful description.
    • Think like a customer: would this help someone (or an AI tool) understand the page quickly?
    • Edit directly in the dashboard where you see the fields.
  4. Preview Your Draft LLMS

    • Use the preview to confirm only the right pages are included.
    • Remove duplicates or anything irrelevant.
  5. Update Settings and Activate

    • When you’re happy, save your changes.
    • This activates your LLMS.txt inside your account.
  6. Publish Your LLMS.txt Live

    • Click Publish to make it live on your website.
    • AI tools can then read it and better understand your site.

Important: Less is more. If you include too many pages, AI engines may ignore the file. Keep it focused on the pages that attract new customers: delivery info, main categories, weddings, sympathy, and a small set of top products.

How Do We Structure LLMS.txt for Florists?

There’s no official format for these files yet, so we’ve created a structure that’s perfect for florist websites. It breaks your content into clear, easy-to-understand sections:

Primary Pages (Informational)

Pages like:

  • Your homepage
  • Delivery info
  • Contact details
  • FAQs
  • Wedding or event services

Key Product Categories (Transactional)

These are the main categories customers shop from — like Birthday Flowers, Sympathy Flowers, or Same-Day Delivery.

Informational Content (Blog)

If you write blog posts, include them here to show AI engines your expertise and fresh content.

Transactional Highlights (High Value)

Only include your top-selling, seasonal, or high-value products. Skip the rest.

Local / Service Area Pages (SEO)

Suburb landing pages are key for local search. These should definitely be included.

A Note on Page Names and Descriptions

We use the page title and meta description by default, but we recommend editing these so they sound more natural and clear for humans and AI.

Example

Page Title:
Cost Effective Websites for Florists | Flower Store In a Box
→ Change to:
Affordable Ecommerce Websites for Florists

Meta Description:
Flower Store In a Box offers website packages that are cost effective for florists, mobile responsive ecommerce websites for florists to sell flowers online.
→ Could become:
Affordable, mobile-friendly ecommerce websites designed specifically for florists. Easy to manage and made to grow your business.

You can edit all of this directly in your dashboard — no extra steps, just click and type.

Bottom Line

LLMS.txt is an exciting and important part of the future of your online marketing.

It’s designed to help AI engines like ChatGPT understand your florist business better — so they can help customers find you more easily.
