Calculating the ROI

How to Calculate the ROI for your website

How do you calculate the return on your investment for your website? It's not just in the orders sold on the website it's also the sales that are generated through people browsing your website and making telephone orders or orders for wedding flowers other events. While we already know that more and more customers are turning to the web to purchase flowers and gifts, not everyone who will visit you site will actually order online. Based on informal discussions with Flower Store In a Box customers we know that many of their telephone orders are generated directly from their websites. Some standard figures that we have included based on our customers experience are:

  • Average online order value - $50
  • Average telephone order where someone has looked at your website - $75
  • Average Event Order  generated from your website - $1000
  • How many of each do you get a day - 1 Online, 2 Telephone
  • Average Event Order $1000 once per month generated through your website

Most online flower stores get at least 1 online order a day and 2 telephone orders a day where the customer has visited your website:

Obviously every florist is different in how many orders they generate, and the results will vary from florist to florist and will be direct results of what online and offline marketing, SEO and advertising campaigns are used. Google Adwords, Discount coupons in advertising, in store promotions, local newspaper reviews etc are all fantastic ways of driving traffic to your website.
