New Notification Features to Improve Customer Experience (and Save You Time)

We’ve just rolled out a powerful set of new notification features inside Flower Store In a Box — designed to make your life easier, improve customer communication, and streamline your order process from start to finish.

These updates give you more control over when and how your customers are notified, while also introducing automated PDF invoices and secure access to tax receipts.

Let’s walk through what’s new and how you can start using it today.

What’s New?

We’ve introduced three key upgrades:

  • Pickup Ready Notifications (SMS Only)
  • Automatic PDF Invoice Emails
  • Secure SMS Invoice Links (with expiry for security)

All of these features are available right now under: Settings :: Notifications

Pickup Ready Notifications (SMS Only)

One of the most requested features is finally here.

You can now automatically send an SMS notification to your customer when their order is ready for pickup.

Why this matters

  • Reduces customer phone calls
  • Speeds up collections
  • Improves overall customer experience
  • Keeps your workflow running smoothly

How it works

Once enabled, your system will send an SMS message automatically when an order is marked as ready for pickup.

You can fully customise the message (up to 160 characters), and include dynamic details like the Order ID.

Example SMS:
Hi! Your order #1234 is now ready for pickup. We look forward to seeing you shortly.

SMS Order Notifications

We’ve also expanded your SMS notification options across the order process, giving you more ways to keep your customers informed at the right time.

You now have control over:

  • Order Confirmation SMS when the order is placed
  • Delivery SMS notifications
  • Pickup Ready SMS notifications

Why use SMS?

Let’s be honest — emails don’t always get through.

Between spam filters and busy inboxes, SMS is often the fastest and most reliable way to reach your customer instantly.

This is especially useful for same-day orders, urgent deliveries, and situations where customers may miss important email updates.

Automatic PDF Invoice Emails (Beta)

This is a major new addition for florists who need to provide a formal invoice after purchase.

You can now automatically send a PDF invoice to the customer as a separate email after their transaction.

Why this is useful

  • Many customers and businesses require a formal PDF invoice
  • Useful for corporate orders and accounting records
  • Reduces the need to manually send invoices after purchase

How it works

  • A second email is sent after the order confirmation
  • That email includes the PDF invoice as an attachment
  • You can customise the subject line of the PDF email

Please Note: This feature is currently a Beta Release and is subject to change or alteration. At the moment this is included, however we may apply a usage fee in the future.

Secure SMS Invoice Links

In addition to sending a PDF invoice by email, you can also send your customer a link to their tax invoice by SMS.

This can be sent as either a PDF link or a plain text link, depending on your setup and how you want the customer to receive it.

Built with security in mind

For security reasons, the invoice link is only active for 1 hour after the SMS is sent.

After that time, the customer will need to enter their phone number again so the system can issue a new secure SMS token.

This helps protect customer information and ensures invoice access remains secure.

Available Options in Settings :: Notifications

These features are available to use straight away in your notifications settings.

Send an SMS to the customer when the order is made
This is useful where many order confirmation emails go to spam or junk mail.

PDF Invoice
This option sends an additional email with a PDF of the invoice (required for some accounting systems). This is a Beta Release and is subject to change or alteration. At the moment this is included but we may charge a usage fee in the future.
