Online Payment Trends & Payment Gateways – What’s Popular Online?

OK so let’s have a chat about how people are paying online for flower sales.  We have a wide view of what goes on in the Online Floral market through Flower Store In a Box.

In the last few months we have upgraded our payment options to include a new PayPal Integration, Apple Pay & Google Wallet.  You can read about these updates here

If you haven’t already been upgraded with the new payment options please contact me and I will organize this for you.

When a new customer comes on board with Flower Store In a Box we generally recommend that you signup with both Stripe and PayPal.

This allows you to have all the payment options on your website:

  • Apple Pay
  • Google Wallet
  • Paypal

What are people using on their websites

Traditionally we used to give a general proportion of PayPal / On site Credit Card

PayPal used to be 10% of all orders

With the new payment integration we are seeing:

Paypal is now around 25% of online sales

What this shows us is that more people are using the alternative payment methods.  So far Apple Pay and Google Wallet are still small in usage but PayPal has had a huge increase in popularity.

Recommendations for accepting payments online

Based on this our recommendation for online payments is still:

  • On Site Credit Cards though Stripe or eway
  • PayPal
  • Stripe – for Apple Pay / Google Wallet if you don’t use eway or one of the major banks
