Setting your site up for Mothers day

Special Events like Mother’s or Valentine’s day require a whole different approach for florists than the normal day to day operations. These special events can account for a huge number of sales but they can also be a minefield of bad deliveries and time wasted.

For most florists there are only so many orders that they can physically make and physically deliver. This is where a Flower Store in a Box website is ideal as it allows you to control the entire customer experience from start to finish.

Setting up your website for Mother’s Day is often left to the last minute but if you follow this quick guide you will be ready in no time!

Create a Mother’s Day category & Add Products

If you haven’t already done so make sure that you have a Mothers Day product Category for your website.  You can check your product categories here:

Then have a look at the products already catalogued in this category and add new ones or remove old ones as needed.

Make the menu item visible and order it -1

It's also time of you to add the Mother's Day Menu to your main navigation menu of your website.

You can toggle whether it’s in the menu by clicking the Visible / Not Visible Button.

Then edit the products category and under order make the order -1 this will make the menu item the first in your occasions list.

If your menu is not automated you will probably need a hand doing this so give on of our team a call or enter a support request for a team member to do this for you. After Mother's Day we recommend that you keep your Mother's Day range linked for next year, but just link it from the footer of the website.

To remove it from your menu you simply toggle the button for visible / invisible

Check to make sure you haven’t blocked the date

Make sure that you check that you have not automatically blocked the date 12thMay 2019 from ordering.  If you routinely block all Sundays you will need to remove this date!

Choose a Banner and have it published on your website

We have published a library of banners for you top choose from, this year we have also included Instagram images and Facebook Cover images for Mothers Day!

Click here to review and choose a banner.

The banner will be set to automatically revert to the previous banner the Monday after Mother’s Day.

Restrict the categories that can be ordered for this day

A new feature allows you to restrict people to order from only one category for a date. To activate this option it’s under My Orders: Category Restrictions.

Click the blue button to add a new date, then choose the date to restrict orders and choose the category that can order!

Request any custom features for Mothers Day

Do you have any custom business rules that you would like for your website for Mother’s day?

Perhaps you charge a surcharge for Mother’s Day Deliveries?

You can request this by creating a support request in your dashboard.

*Note there may be additional costs for custom features

Check you can order for Mothers Day

Most importantly after you have set up your website with restrictions and added your products it’s vital that you do a test order to make sure that you can order flowers for Mothers Day!

Use Site Notices to drive Sales

With the new pop up site notices you can help drive more sales by having single view pop ups on your website.

Maybe a 7 day countdown for Mother’s Day.

Day 1 – Only 7 Days to Order Mothers Day Flowers 20% off use Code XXXXX

Then create a pop up for each day until the final day.

Email Marketing

Email Marketing is a quick and easy way to market your website to your existing customer base. Your website dashboard allows you to use a pre-designed email template with your own marketing message and products.

Google Advertising

Of course don’t forget to have your Google and other advertising set up.  Don’t target generic key phrases such as “Mothers Day Flowers”.  Instead think local and target your suburbs and Mothers day.

The cost will be less and you should get far better results.
