Valentines Day is one of the top holidays for florists to increase sales and profits, but it's often left to the last minute to prepare your website for the holiday season. In this quick marketing guide we outline the minimum marketing activity that your should do to get your website ready and get people to purchase from you for Valentines Day.
The first and most important task to get done is to create and load your Valentines Day range on your website. If you are a member of one of the relay networks you can use their Valentines Day range, otherwise you can take and prepare your own range of Valentines Day products.
If you haven’t already done so make sure that you have a Valentines Day product Category for your website. You can check your product categories here:
Then have a look at the products already catalogued in this category and add new ones or remove old ones as needed.
It's also time of you to add the Valentine's Day Menu to your main navigation menu of your website.
You can toggle whether it’s in the menu by clicking the Visible / Not Visible Button.
Then edit the products category and under order make the order -1 this will make the menu item the first in your occasions list.
If your menu is not automated you will probably need a hand doing this so give on of our team a call or enter a support request for a team member to do this for you. After Valentine's Day we recommend that you keep your Valentine's Day range linked for next year, but just link it from the footer of the website.
To remove it from your menu you simply toggle the button for visible / invisible
You don't need a huge range for Valentines Day just somewhere between 6 - 12 products is ideal.

Your homepage is most often the landing page for your website and for this reason you should make sure that you have some or all of your Valentines Day products on your homepage. We don't generally recommend that you replace all of your Homepage products with one category as this can reduce the sales conversion rate for non Valentines Day Sales.
You should have some sort of marketing Theme of Message for your Valentines Day Period and this should be carried over from your website to your physical store. You should have at least one banner created for your homepage and possibly also your Valentines Day Landing Page. They can be the same banner if you like, but they can also be slightly different too. The homepage banner can encourage people to browse the Valentines Day Range whilst the Valentines Day Landing Page can encourage people to buy and not miss out. You can choose a message like: Don't miss out on Valentines Day flowers order by the 13th of February to have the flowers delivered before Valentines Day
You should also remember to promote your Valentines Day range on your social media campaigns. The trick here is not be too over the top and annoy people with your Valentines Day promotions. Promote the Valentines Day holiday with banners, links to your website and Valentines Day range or if you have a particularly unique Valentines Day floral arrangement you can link to that too. This is really just the start of you Valentines Day online Marketing ideas for your online florist.
Special Events like Valentine’s or Valentine’s day require a whole different approach for florists than the normal day to day operations. These special events can account for a huge number of sales but they can also be a minefield of bad deliveries and time wasted.
For most florists there are only so many orders that they can physically make and physically deliver. This is where a Flower Store in a Box website is ideal as it allows you to control the entire customer experience from start to finish.
