Whether you are setting up your website for the Christmas holidays or Valentines or Mother’s day there are a whole heap of things you should be doing to get you and your florist website ready.
Update your holiday products
Make sure that you have a product category for the event IE Christmas Flowers, and have added products to the category.
Adding seasonal products is a great idea but not always practical if the product is not yet in season! If you do need seasonal products, you have a few options:
- Buy a stock image from iStock, Pexels etc
- Use an image from last year’s season
- Use a “Coming Soon” image and update it as soon as you have the seasonal product picture available.
The same goes for pricing of seasonable products, you will most likely have to be flexible in your pricing based on what the growers or markets sell it for.
Update the Banner on the homepage
Your homepage banner is the perfect place to promote the special event with a marketing message and click through to the holiday category.
Flower Store In a Box publishes Holiday Banner Libraries for each of the major holidays on our blog, you can view the blog here:

Block Delivery Dates for Store Closure
You need to block dates that you will not be accepting deliveries for so people can’t order for these days. For example:
Christmas Day, New Years Day, Boxing day at Christmas.

Update your delivery policy
The holiday season often means that you have different delivery times costs and options. Your regular delivery drivers might be available or you may charge a premium for delivery on certain dates.
Start off by chatting to the Flower Store In a Box team about your specific needs. We can then discuss how these things can be added to your website. Once this is agreed upon the next step is adding the extra delivering information to your delivery page.
Change the Visibility of your Holiday Category
Most florists will already have the holiday categories already on their sites, but they will either be invisible or not listed in the main menus.
In Flower Store In a box dashboard, edit the holiday product category and make it visible.

Add special holiday add-ons
You might have special holiday only add-ons, like cards etc that you may want to add.
There are several options here.
If you already have used all the existing addon categories you will need to re-purpose a category and have the label and image changed.
If you haven’t already used all the add-on categories you can use this and then change the label.
The other option is to “bundle” the addons with the product and create combo products using the up to 8 different product price options.
Restrict Orders to one category
You can now restrict your website to a specific category of products for specific dates. For example say you wanted to only allow people to purchase Valentine’s Day Products on a specific date you could do this.
This option is under Orders :: Category Restrictions in your dashboard.
Another option for you to consider would be to restrict specific categories for sale. This is most useful around Valentines Day when roses cost more so you may want to restrict all products in the roses category.

Charge a different delivery fee
Further to idea that delivery costs will be different for the holiday seasons, you might want to think about changing your delivery costs for the holiday period.
Holiday Social Media Posts
Don’t forget about your social media either, have your messaging and posts all ready to go over the holiday period before time so you don’t have to think about it when you are busy.
Wrapping it all up
There is a lot to think about when setting up your website for the holiday periods in addition to ordering extra and seasonal stock.
Your Flower Store In a Box website has extensive features that can be configured to meet your unique business needs.
